Efforts To Ban Using The Term “ILLEGAL” To Describe ILLEGAL ALIENS

[TWG: Ummmm, NO.  I will no comply.  I will continue to call them what they ARE. ILLEGAL.]

So, now we have an “I-word.”  MoveOn.Org has now taken it upon themselves to try to banish the word “illegals.”  MoveOn specifically attacked Fox News, saying it is, “one word we hear too often on Fox News.”

Accompanying MoveOn’s announcement, a web page at Colorlines instructs us on what they believe are better ways to describe people who enter the country illegally:

  • Undocumented immigrants
  • Unauthorized immigrants
  • NAFTA refuge

Because, they write, “the epithet ‘illegals’ promotes a culture of intolerance and violence toward foreign nationals, undocumented immigrants, and people of color.”

They go on to write that “the i-word opens the door to racial profiling and violence and prevents truthful, respectful debate on immigration.”

Violence has also come through the open door of the US/Mexican border.

Examiner writer, Joe Newby, makes the point that, “one cannot help but think of George Orwell’s classic 1984, in which he wrote of the destruction of words in an effort to eradicate ‘thoughtcrime.’”

There is, of course, a video attached to this attempt at censorship:

Drop the I-Word. No Human Being is Illegal.

How about we just call people what they actually are?
