“On Eve of Election, Pro-Gunners Suggest Building IEDs for War with U.S. Government,” Josh Horwitz of the Coalition to Stop Gun Violence (renamed from the National Coalition to Ban Handguns to mask their intent, plus because those aren’t all they want to ban) writes in a breathless Huffington Post screed published this morning.
It seems St. Louis Gun Rights Examiner Kurt Hofmann wrote a column last March that Josh & Co. think they can use to further their demonization of Americans who believe a last resort benefit of the right to keep and bear arms is the ability of citizens to resist tyrannical government—something well known to the Founders who prevailed when they made that terrible choice, and evidenced by the words of Tench Coxe of the Continental Congress:
As civil rulers, not having their duty to the people before them, may attempt to tyrannize, and as the military forces which must be occasionally raised to defend our country, might pervert their power to the injury of their fellow citizens, the people are confirmed by the article in their right to keep and bear their private arms.”…”Who are the militia? Are they not ourselves? Is it feared, then, that we shall turn our arms each man gainst his own bosom. Congress have no power to disarm the militia. Their swords, and every other terrible implement of the soldier, are the birthright of an American….
So what’s CSGV’s beef?
