Memorial Day is Monday, May 28, 2012

What is the real meaning of Memorial Day?

If you look at the history of Memorial Day you will see that it was a day of remembrance for those who died in our nation’s service. No one is really sure who exactly came up with the concept but it dates back to the Civil War, when organized groups of women placed flowers on the graves of those who died in battle. Memorial Day was officially proclaimed on May 5, 1868 by General John Logan, national commander of the Grand Army of the Republic, in his General Order No.11, and was first observed on May 30, 1868, when flowers were placed on the graves of Union and Confederate soldiers at Arlington National Cemetery. The first state to officially recognize the holiday was New York in 1873. Today, it is celebrated in every state on the last Monday in May as passed by Congress (National Holiday Act of 1971).

It is sad to admit that we have not done a better job of educating our young ones as to the real reason this holiday came to be. Today, Memorial Day Weekend is a three day weekend to go the lake and party, or for department stores to advertise big sales events. We need to get back to recognizing those who gave their lives for this great nation.

On Monday, May 28, 2012, please remember all of those men and women who have died serving our country in all wars since the Civil War. I would also encourage you to remember all of those who have died protecting our country here at home, the First Responders (Police, Fire and EMS Workers) who have died in the line of duty.

Take a few moments Monday and call someone you know who serves in one of the branches of our Armed Services and let them know how much it means to your freedom for them serving our country.  Be safe and enjoy your Memorial Day Weekend.

God Bless Our Troops.

God Bless America.

A Prayer for Our Veterans

Eternal and Loving God, we are so thankful for the men and women that You have raised up to serve our country with honor, dignity and commitment in the past and present, in war time and times of peace, in combat or on the home front. We remember them today as they have served with honor, dignity, courage and commitment.

We ask You to bless them in the sacrifices they have made to give of themselves for the cause of freedom. We ask You to surround them and their families with your love and protection as many continue to serve on the front lines.

In their times of loneliness and despair, we ask You to be their unseen hand that will lift them up to see a brighter day. We remember those who have lost their lives in service, and we applaud their selfless acts as well as their families that released them to serve. As You have blessed this nation as the land of the free and the home of the brave, we extend this blessing to every branch of our military, and ask that your continued strength and power be with us in the days ahead.

We thank You that their service has not been in vain, and we salute them with honor today and every day. Believing that You are willing and able to hear and answer, we ask in Jesus Name, Amen.

The Usurping Swine (B.O.) in OUR White House Will Be Chumming With His Chicago Thugs Instead Of Respecting Our Veterans In Arlington National Cemetary This Memorial Day

UPDATE: MARCH 26, 2010:     After posting this and email to several contacts about this issue, the response was overwhelmingly AGAINST B.O. stepping foot on the Sacred Ground where our Beloved Veterans rest. (almost 4,000 Patriots chimed in on this issue!)   Almost everyone was thankful he isn’t planning to attend the ceremonies at Arlington National Cemetery.    I must say that I agree wholeheartedly. The Usurper in our White House has done nothing but spit in the faces of our Military Members and on the graves of our Veterans by shredding our Constitution, our Bill Of Rights and by destroying our Country.
You’re right.  He is not welcome anywhere near our Veterans and their Final Resting Place.  With that in mind, his decision not to attend Arlington just goes to show his contempt for our Veterans, but we’re happy about his decision.

…he will instead be in Chicago.  Doing The Chicago CIRCLE JERK.  I’m sure Rahm Emanuels will be there to give him a “Mouth Hug”.

The SMUG FACES AND MIDDLE FINGERS from this regime are becoming “tiresome”.  But when they crap on our Veterans is when I say ENOUGH.

What else does anyone need to see, when a sitting American president does NOT attend the Memorial Day Ceremony at Arlington Cemetery?

How about THIS?

The Washington Post talks about it as if it is an ordinary weekend and Obama’s just going home to visit old friends from his old neighborhood.

In a city where they are begging for martial law to cut down on the escalating violence, where high school kids are bashing others’ heads in with railroad ties, that’s where he would rather spend his Memorial Day weekend?

And he’s not there to solve the crime problem?

The Washington Post rag went on to say that Obama will be “finally addressing one of the great broken promises of his administration: his early pledge to return home to Chicago every six weeks or so.”

Is the whole world on crack, or am I reading too much into the fact that our president will not be honoring our war dead on Memorial Day, while our troops are currently serving in TWO wars?

Hey, Obama, you should be here, where Gary Sinise will be, as he is EVERY year:

This is what Americans do on Memorial Day:

What other evidence do we need?
